The Signature Burger from Bad Burger

This is a great veggie burger. The ‘patty’ is a portobello mushroom steak topped with vegan cheese and chimichurri sauce. You can swap out the patty for a black bean or beet burger and the hand cut fries (which are awesome) can be swapped for a salad. They even have an epic sauce list with options like curry ketchup and pesto mayo. Next time I’m trying the beet burger and one of their vegan shakes. Oh, almost forgot, this place is BYOB!

Double Bacon Cheese Burger (Vegan) from Kate’s Joint.

The burger was solid but I think some of the other options are better (like the one with BBQ sauce and onion rings on it). Best part of the meal was ordering it. I mean, how often do I get to say, ‘double bacon cheese burger’?

The Pregosin Vegetarian Burger
Ventured down into South Slope the other day for a little back yard BBQ. Lexie’s dad cooked up this delicious meal for us: burgers, potatoes, corn and veggie skewers. For some reason, home cooked meals always taste better. The veggie burger was simple but great. I ended up adding some of the grilled veggies to it and bam, had an amazing burger. Thanks, Papa Pregosin!

Pink Pony Vegetarian Burger
What a treat!  I just found out about this amazingly cute literary cafe and cine club in the Lower East Side.  They have an excellent veggie burger.  The bun was fresh baked and perfectly crisp.  Although the toppings were fairly standard:  iceberg lettuce, two slices of tomato and a bit of onion, the patty itself was delicious.  I’m pretty sure they aren’t making them on site but when whole pieces of edamame are falling out of my veggie burger, I know I’ve found a winner.  I may have to become a regular at this place.

Lite Delights’ Veggie Burger
This juice bar/ sandwich shop is among my top 10 favorite restaurants in New York.  Inexpensive, unpretentious and always yummy.  I recently ordered the veggie burger and it was excellent.  The patty was chalked full of vegetables and had just enough black pepper to keep me on my toes.  And everyone loves alfalfa sprouts and endives on top.  But the most notable element here was the bread.  How do they fit so many grains in it and where can I get the rest of the loaf?

Cowgirl’s Garden Veggie Burger
Only one word comes to mind after eating this burger, heavy.  The patty is large and full of vegetables, but for some reason it still feels like meat when you bite into it.  Of course, it came with the usual toppings, and the margarita I ordered helped me get past the meatiness of it all, but I wouldn’t recommend this burger to anyone.  Love the restaurant; veggie burger needs work.

D.C. Veggie Burger in Pita
A perfect example of veggie burger fusion.  Pita instead of bun, yellow peppers instead of tomatoes, parsley and spinach instead of lettuce.  And the homemade chili sauce (jam?) was a great addition.  The patty itself was relatively standard, definitely not made on the premises, but with all of the other goodies piled on top, this sandwich doesn’t miss the mark.

Bridge Fresh’ Vegetarian Burger
Well, another winner.  This veggie burger, although pretty messy, was super yummy.  The patty was soft but hearty, with black beans, corn, brown rice, red pepper and who knows what else.  It was topped with melted muenster cheese, a pound of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions and ketchup, and one pleasant surprise, a thickly sliced dill pickle.  All that for $4 plus getting to eat it in the Manhattan Bridge Park a few blocks away - you couldn’t ask for more.

Cloe’s Homemade Veggie Burger
No yelp link for this one.  Cloe, an old acquaintance and new friend brought over these pinto bean and oatmeal patties and they were delicious.  Each burger was seasoned with a dash of curry and topped with sharp cheddar, tomatoes, red lettuce, onions and radish slices.  The patty itself was a little mushy but the flavor was incredible.  Who knew pinto beans, oatmeal and curry powder would be such a great combo?  Thanks Cloe for blowing my mind.

Getting Hungry’s Veggie Burger
According to rumors around the office, this place isn’t the best for vegetarians as bits of chicken tend to accidentally make their way into veggie salads.  I decided to brave it for the veggie burger, and although it wasn’t groundbreaking, it was decent.  The bun and cheese preparation is worth noting I think.  Each half of the bun received its own slice of cheddar and then were put into a conveyor-like toaster.  Jury’s still out on whether that’s the best approach but it was definitely different.  Of course, when they wrapped it up to go, they really ruined the shape.  But a little shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and onions and it tasted pretty good.
